Need help! GSR motor won't start
I've got a 98 civic hatch with a gsr swap and it won't start. The battery, timing belt tensioner, spark plugs, and spark plug wires are brand new, so I know it's non of these. I've also checked all the grounds and it doesn't seem like it's that either. Don't think it's the starter either. If anyone might know what this could be, please help.

You really should post more info like does it the starter turn and it dosent start? have you tested for spark and fuel? and what were the results? things like this can help other people better guide you in the right direction. and another biggie has this motor ran recently or did you just swap it in?

The starter is turning, but nothing happens. And no, the motor was not just swapped. I was driving the car this morning to work, got home and I tried to leave, and the car wouldn't start. And there was no need for the rudeness by the way.

so it cranks but doesn't start. This happened to me the first thing i did was...
1. check fuses
2. this was the last thing i did but the only thinng that work. i advanced the dizzy, unbolt the top bolt on the dizzy and put it towards the firwall. and it started. if that doesn't work
3. take out cylinder one spark plug connect to the wire, then put in on the valve cover. if you see a spark then you have it.
3.when you turn the key not on the starting pisition you should hear the fuel pump pumping in the back of the car. if you don't you need a fuel pump.
try these things and let us know

True, listen to 92civicx as far as the fuel and spark goes, do a compression check and also make sure the dizzy rotor/cap are good. If the car is turning over, then the starter is good.

i wouldn't go as far as saying that. my buddy has a 93 Civic hatch dx and you can't hear his fuel pump what-so-ever in or outside the car. my geo doesn't do it either

the starter is clicking, but the motor isn't turning over. i even replaced the starter just to be sure, but still nothing. i've already checked and replaced all the fuses as well.

Did you check the grounds? Last time my car wouldn't start, that was the problem.

thats exactly what i was going to say. Check all your grounds and see if your car will start. sometimes on my geo i have to have the key on the on position for like 5-10 seconds for it to get the motor to turn over. the starter clicks and all, yes i know i need to get a new starter.
once againk, check the grounds.

They should ba marked. If not it's pretty common sensical as far as the length of each should give it away. Unless you mean you took them out of the distrubutor. If that's the case, then I'll have to check and get back with you.

Re: (dkid15)
yeah, i found the problem. apparently, when i got my alarm done at circuit city, they used my ignition wire to the starter as a ground for the alarm. pretty much, the alarm was stealing all the spark for the starter. that's why it wouldn't start. so, after countless days and $400 spent, the lesson that i learned: DON'T GO CIRCUIT CITY FOR ALARMS!!! THEY WILL F**K YOUR CAR UP!!!
thanks to all the people on here for helping me out. the car runs like a champ
