Need help with friends 97 Civic
My friend has a 97 DX civic and he put a 97 EX motor about 5 months ago and 3 months ago his head went so he put a JDM vtec head. Yesturday his car was losing power and blowing heavy amounts of white smoke out the exhaust. It idled rough like it was running on 3 cylinders. I am automatically thinking the head gasket but the coolant looks fine, oil is still a goldish color and the motor is running at normal temperatures. Good look to any one can help me with some ideas. He is also using an automatic p2p ecu if that helps.

I've always attributed white smoke with burning coolant. I can't really think of anything else that it could be. But if you say that the coolant levels appear to be normal....then I am completely stumped.
I suggest that he pulls off the head whenever he gets a chance to get a better look.

Re: (eksleeper)
pull the spark plugs out, if any are damaged or fouled you will know whether you lost a cylinder or oil is getting in a cylinder. If the plugs are totally clean, then it could be coolant. Either find a bore scope and look inside, or find a shop with a bore scope.
