Default need help with fitting new tires.. long story

so i'll try to shorten it.

i bought new rota slipstreams to replace my lame *** enkei performance es6..

my current es6 are 15", w/ 195/50 (or 55?)/15's.. They fit fine, no fitment issue.

Now, I went to pick up 2 new sets of rims yesterday.. some 17's w/ rubber (gonna re sell them) and my rotas (15's for front, 16's for rear.. no rubber). I go over an hour to buy them, and the damn 17's dont fit due to the car being lowered. If I would have turned the wheels, I would have sliced them open or ripped apart the fender.

So basically, here is my question. The rota 15's have dunlp 185/50/15 rubber for the front... they fit fine and dont rub.

What size can I go w/ for the rear w/out rubbing and keeping in porportion w/ the fronts?

I'm thinking I'm gonna buy 195/50/r15 kumho ecsta ast for the front since the rubber is garbage.. and 205/50/r16 kumho ecsta ast. Do you think they will be proportionate and not rub and all that? I went to a badass tire calculator/comparer on miata.net, and the rears wont be TOO much bigger than the fronts. The 15's will have a 71.2" circumference, and the rears will have a 73.1" circ. Does this sound acceptable?

ttt

I guess what I'm asking is will 205/50/r16 fit in the rear w/out rubbing? The car is dropped like an inch, inch and a half from stock.

buy the correct size tires. for 15's it should be 195/55/15(correct) or 205/50/15(a bit wider but still within spec)

*for 16's its 205/45/16

haha what a beast. exactly what I was asking.

So there wont be any fitment issues w/ the car being slightly dropped then?

also, will having 45 and 50 milimeter sidewalls be considered low profile? Will I have problems with the tire being too thin and all that?

I cant tell you if it will rub. You have to judge that. Usually wheels/tires that are very wide or low offset cause rubbing problems. It can be taken care of by rolling the fenders. I have 15x7 and 205 tires and all I needed was the bend the fender trim mounting tabs up a little and roll the back fender edge just a bit. Im only lowered 1.75F and 1.5R though. Also the 45 and 50 in the tire size is not millimeters its percentage of tread width. For example a 205/50/15 means the sidewall is 50% of the treadwidth which is 205. So the sidewall will be about 102.5mm approx. 4in.

Well I know that the 185/55 (or 50) 15" that came on that rim, fit the car fine up front. So as long as the measurements stay close to that, I should be fine..

Thanks for the clarification on how to read the tires though.

Oh for real?? Sheeeit.. then if my car is only dropped 1-1.5", I shouldn't have a problem with the same tires..
