Default need help finding an oil leak

i just got a dohc vtec del sol and it has an oil leak. the previous owner said its the head gasket but its hard to tell because when the oil leaks it goes on to the timing belt and then it goes all over the place. its not a huge leak but because it leaks on to the timing belt it looks big. i checked the coolant and there was on oil in the coolant. the exhaust does not smoke at all. my guess is the valve cover gasket. does any one have any suggestions on how i can find out exactly where the leak is from?
also, is it safe to rev to 9000 RPMS on stock rods? i have a built head and ctr pistons on my b16.

thanks
