I know this may sound like a noob question but the numbers stamped on the pistons mean what motor they were made for what is pr3?

PR3 is the ecu code for the 88-91 jdm ef8/9 B16A. the number on the pistons relates to the ecu code. ex: my car is a 96 Ex and my ecu is P2P and so is the stamp on my piston tops

not weird at all. the b16a has 10.2 compression ratio and the B17 has 9.7. combustion chamber design affects this as well. so you should be getting a higher ratio but more hp
