i passed 3 out of the 4 tests...

the one i failed was "hydrocarbons at idol"


I took it to my mechanic to see if he could tune it up a bit and get it to pass.. he said the only reason it didnt pass is because it has no cat on it..

he also told me that i was pretty close to passing and that if i tweeked the timing a little i could probably get it to pass..

Does anyone know how i can do that..? Like how much do i need to adjust the timing?

(i just bought the car as a project im gonna do a motor swap so i would like to not have to spend any money to fix it.. it has a stock SOHC d15 with intake headers and cat-less exhaust)

If anyone has any ideas or experience id love to hear.

It'll pass HC with a cat. Why don't you have one? Why are you oppsed to getting one?

haha honestly i didnt know that it didnt have a cat...

I just bought the car and i went to get it licensed and she said she needed emission papers... so i went to get it tested and it failed...

YAY! i passed!


I got my oil changed, ran some seafoam injector cleaner and turned my timing down a ilttle bit... worked like a charm.
