need help diagnosing problem
Just picked up a 98 civic coupe last week after going a long *** time without a car. It has a b18c and is slightly modded. Anyways, I'm driving it yesterday and I hit 8k rpm in 3rd, shift to 4th and I "feel" and then hear a bolt drop off my car on the passenger side. It richochets in the wheel and pops out. Freaked me out and I couldn't see where the bolt went. I jacked up the car when I got home and gave everything the once over and couldn't pinpoint any bolts missing. Weird thing is, when the car is up, and I move the front wheels slowly back and forth, there is a "click" "click" sound coming from the middle of the underbody. Is that normal?
Also, after driving the car to work today, I noticed alot of looseness and a wobbly feeling on the passenger side wheel. It definitely feels like something isn't right, but I can't figure out what it could be. I'm guessing it's either engine mount related or suspension related. Either way, the car feels really loose and unstable.
Sometimes from a stop, the passenger side wheel will wobble as I take off in 1st.
One thing that happened before that mystery bolt fell off was a high speed braking incident that happened because some idiot stopped right in front of me and I had to stomp on the brakes and this loud whurring sound come from the passenger side. So could it also be something with the brakes? What else should I check again suspension and mount wise? I have no clue what could be wrong, but I'm worried an important bolt somewhere fell off! Help!! Thanks h-t

Click click could be your steering rack.
Bolt was probably something you picked up off the road while driving.
Check the wheel lugs and nuts....along with the axle nuts.

Re: need help diagnosing problem (Spade)
thanks for the quick reply and help! The reason I'm 99% sure it was a bolt off of my car and not something on the road is because as soon as it happened, my passenger side wheel suddenly had this weird wobble before the bolt richocheted out of the wheel.
I also double checked the lugnuts and they are on securely...
Oh, and one more thing I noticed while driving today is that if I try to gas it real hard and take it up to 8k, there is a vibration/wobble coming from the passenger side wheel I'm stumped

i would look over all mounts as well as your controle arms. the same thing happened to me (eng mount) the only way to find it out is to look long and hard

I had the same problem in my 92 civic VX. It turned out to be one of the bolts that hold the steering rack in place. Check towards the center of your subframe. Thats where the bolts are located.
