Need help on decision
I have a 93 civic CX, and I have two options on motors, D16Z6, or B18(GSR). I've read all the FAQs but i can't figure out exactly what i need to swap the b18[gsr]. So far i gathered all of the wiring, the ecu etc. I pretty much got everything, the only thing i am confused about is:
The axles, do i need gsr axles for the swap? Or does the civic axles work fine.
If i need the GSR axles, do they fit in the civic hubs? Or do i need to get gsr hubs?
And shift linkage, does the gsr shift linkage match up with the civic? If not what do i need?
Also the motor mounts, can i use the GSR motor mounts? or does the civic motor mounts work fine.
I've been searching for about a week, and i can't figure these couple of questions out, so i come to you all for a little help.
Anything will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again.

Re: Need help on decision
I filled my rear mount in solid with urethane sealant the other two are stock and I'm not even running either of the front mounts. My engine sits level and hasn't gone anywhere nor does it move around alot during a hard shift or clutch dump...

from my past experiences, i needed to have B-series mounts, linkage, axles. make sure the gsr is a obd1 as well or you will have to do some wiring on your dizzy and injectors. d-series mounts wont work for b-series swap, only b-series mounts. hope that helps a bit.

Re: Need help on decision
I've done 7 B-swaps and used to import and sell them by the dozens, and I **** you not, I took the upper tranny mount off of my Z6 and it bolted right onto my LS trans. This was after I had already got all the EG6 Civic JDM mounts ready to install and realized some of them were the same damn thing. The aluminum part of SOME d-series timing cover mounts also works, but you need the bracket that bolts to the B-block for it from the GSR. The mounts can be different, the more power the engine had the less holes are in the rubber part, so you don't want to use your CX mounts on a GSR, but there's no need to spend big $$$ on mounts to get a buzz-buzz-rattle-rattle in everything because they are too firm...

Re: Need help on decision
to firm. so you never had a stock mount break. like idk fluid blows all over the motor because the mount on the driver side is a floating mount. stock mounts WILL break. but whatever do what you want. its not goin to be me calling for a flatbed because my motor is on the ground

Re: Need help on decision
Alright well i see a lot of different answers etc, so i guess it would just be better if i go out and get after market motor mounts.
I found these on ebay, anyone's opinion?

I'm still a bit confused about linkage, and axles. Do the GSR axles fit into the stock 93 civic cx hubs?
And does the GSR linkage fit right into the civic?
Thanks again.

Re: Need help on decision
those aren't too bad maybe get the soft street ones and you'll be allright. I hate buying aftermarket mounts when stock parts work and money could be spent on light flywheel header etc...
My B20 has alot of torque and in there almost 2 years now no issues.

Re: Need help on decision
GSR Timing Belt Side Mount Works(round aluminum one)
Z6 or D15B7 tranny mount will work
Stock rear mount(on x-member behind engine) will work but its a weak point, I filled mine solid with silicone sealant, took about a week to dry all the way thru but works fine. Otherwise they like to tear and your engine will clunk back and forth.
Rear bracket needs to be a B-series 5sp one. I think the GSR works but I haven't used one yet. They are different between EG and EK, everyone that got EG swaps into a EK had to change the rear bracket.
