need help with CEL
Dont know whats causing my CEL to come on but it keeps going on then off. One time I saw it blinking then when i tapped the gas it stayed on. If anyone has a clue to what it is, any help is appreciated. Car is a 99 si with bolt-ons.
Also when I reset the ECU it goes off for a period of time then it comes back on.
lol yea i meant CEL

Re: need help with COL (Shorty C)
Don't you mean CEL? If you are having a CEL appear that means its being triggered by something.Check to see what code it is showing, I forgot how to check but if you search you will find how to do it.

I guess you mean CEL (check engine light) or MIL (malfunction indicator lamp).
The only way to get started is for you to check to see what code it's tripping... If it's the same as mine you just jump the service connector that's under the glovebox side of the dash by the ecu... then you turn it to power on and count the blinks...
It should blink a few long then some short. the long ones are the first number and the short ones are the second number...
IE. 2 long blinks 4 short, would be a code 24...
There is a list here somewhere on what all the codes are... you can't start trouble shooting till you know what to look at.

First of all, it's a CEL (not a COL) and secondly, take it to a local Honda dealership and have them pull the code for you (Valvoline has OBD2 readers too and they're free to use). We're not magicians: we can't tell you the code from the lack of information you gave us.

Why do that when he can actually learn how to pull codes himself and save money? I have a 2-way switch connected to the plug you short to make the CEL light blink and it comes in handy alot....especially with an ecu I think is on the fritz.
