Need help on choosing a tranny
well my tranny is out and im in need on a new one. i got a buddy trying to get rid of his z6 tranny. my question is what tranny would you recommend. how would a z6 tranny do on a y8? this is gonna be my first time pulling a tranny. any tips or a 'how to' guide would help. thanks.

a z6 trans would do fine on a y8. a y8 and z6 trans are basically the same. there are little differences between them. as far a "how-to" check the faqs. basically whatever you take loose put it back together.

Awwwww, come on man, you don't know. On a cable tranny, it has a cable by the tranny. On a hydro, it has a clutch slave cylinder and a hydraulic hose connected to it. To look where they're at, it's close to the radiator fan. On the Z6 tranny, look for a code on the PASSENGER side axle that's circled: B000= it means, the tranny has a close gear ratio. On the Y8 tranny, stated the same, but the code starts(I think, some1 correct on this): P4 or similar to that and I think it has a B000 code, too. The tranny has a close gear ratio, but the internal shift forks and other internal materials are more STRONGER than the Z6.
