need help , car is surging
i have a 96 dx hatch with 0 mods yesterday i hosed the engine down and last night when it started the car idled rough and the headlights and interoir lights pulsated .the speedometer started to fluctuate,i was going like 10 miles per hr and the speedo would shoot up past 120 and drop very drastically also check engine light came on and i looked but could not locate the service connecter, is it on the ecu or above ? also started car this morning and still does the same thing ,would water in the distributer cause this , iamlost any help would be appreciated THANKS

car is fine until i touch the gas and the surging starts , and what color is service connecter and it is on passenger side by the ecu right?

try parking the car and just pulling out the spark plugs and leaving it like that for a while. There might be some water in there so leave em out till you think they get dry and when you're about to put them back in, disconnect the battery for a few mins just to reset things. good luck!!

It defenitely sounds like something electrical got wet, is it throwing any codes? Also try cleaning the throttle body (mine surged like that and cleaning the TB got rid of it could have just happened at the same time you washed you'r car . Good luck .

check engine light is on but i removed kick panel over ecu and could not locate the blue plug or service connecter , is it another color or am i stupid , also searched behind glove box . this is on a 96 hatch thanks for any help

been there..
As far as the surging, clean the Throttle body and the IAC Motor..Something electrical got wet and from what you say that the lights pulsate and so on..The Alternator did get wet and probably corroded the brushes and contacts overnight..New or re-manufactured is your best bet.

checked codes and iam throwing 17,41,65 . iknow what these mean ,vehicle speed sensor is defective 41 is primary sensor is defectiveand 65is secondary oxygen sensor heater is defective know the guestion is how to fix this , any help is appreciated

You got water down inside your sensors. Until they dry out you're screwed. Next time, be sure to wrap some plastic wrap around the sensors before you start squirting water under the hood. Sorry you had to learn the hard way...

car is still surging and speedo is still screwed ,jumps drastically with out car movin and miles are not being put on odometer, lights are also still pulsating but mostly upon startup ...any ideas as what this could be , alternater maybe tia

Wait for a hot sunny day, pop your hood for a couple of hours(in direct sunlight), then reset the ecu and try to start it again.
