need help car died no power!!!
ok the problem is i just rebuilt the tranny and a friend and i put it back in yesterday. the car was up on stands and i started it up and the car ran fine and that tranny shifted smooth....ok....this morning i got up early to take it for a test drive, i put the wheels on and took the car off the stands. i get in and everything was normal, i push the clutch down and turn the key. the starter clicked on for a slip sec then everything died!. at first i thought i blew a fuse. i checked all the fuses under the dash and in the engine bay and none of them blew. so then i tested the battery thinking i have a bad battery but that was fine too. then i check the starter to see if i have power there and i do, then i took it out thinkin that it got hung up on the flywheel, wrong. im all out of ideas if anyone can help please, i havent driven my car in over a month and now it has a fresh tranny. i dying to drive it. please any ideas..... thanks for hearing me out guys

main relay isnt the problem, but its under the dash on the drivers side kickpanel. its the MAIN fuel injection relay, has nothing to do with power to the starter.
so you are saying you have nothing, no lights on the dash or anything, but then you say you have power to the starter, im too confused to figure this one out.

Same issue.
Got out of my car, 20 minutes later, back in it, turned the key, all power is on, one click from the starter, then everything dies. No lights, nothing. Fuse box appears to be good... I'm going to continue troubleshooting this issue... my main problem is.. what causes this? (1999 Honda Civic Ex, no mods.)

Re: Same issue. (Valin)
check the battery first, then check both the positive and negative wires for continuity. same thign happened to my girfriend`s car. i was under the impression that it was the alternator because the car would start and then as soon as you turn it off it wouldn`t start on it`s own unless you jump start it. no lights, nothing. i changed the alternator, same problem, changed the negative wire, same problem. it was the positive wire. i was just trying to avoid changing it because of the awkward position it`s in the h23

Re: Same issue. (BrokeA$$Pinoy)
*nods* Continuity was the first thing I checked. Terminals/wires seemed in place. The car wasnt moving when this happened, no jarring etc. So I would have to assume it's one of the fuses that blew. I did hook it up for a jump, no power even then. It's definitely a power distribution issue, and I'll figure it out tonight, however.... how to prevent in the future? Would it be possible that the fuse was past it's life cycle? If so, that's no biggie... if not.. then what? If anyone has any pointers I'd appreciate it.

Re: (instrument)
Yep, no light's, nadda. No dome light, no instrument panel. Will update when I figure out the issue. Looks like I'll be troubleshooting for a while. This is the first car I've ever had an issue like this with. No warning, nothing... Thanks for the input guys.
