ok i have a b16 head (SiR I) that is making a radom (NOT RPM DEP) it just sounds like a radom nut/bolt flopping around(i have looked and nothing floping around). I have already done a valve adjustment. The head is built IE: Dual springs, SS retainers, valves


Is it a LMA issue or what?

Did you check and or replace your LMA's? The Vtec Cam lobe rides on thoes the old ones are made out of realy weak springs and make one hell of a ticking sound when they are warn out. Honda has made some better thicker replacement springs. the new style quiets the valve train down a bunch.

ok would the LMA's (old ones) make noise on a reg basis or randomly--randomly meaning not any particular time or rpm above idle will do it from time to time at free rev parked, and with the new ones as shown above are they just a Drop in replacement dont want to be shimming and ****

LMA's are weird they can tick like hell all the time when they are warn out or they can just stick every so often and tick. they all don't go out at the same time most of the time. they are really crappy thats why they made the new model to eleminate the problem all together.

^ naw cant really post vid of it but it does not get louder with RPM but is very repeatable when driving or SOMETIMES when just reving when parked around 2.5k or so

Best description i can give is a loose nut or bolt occationally moving around in head, i have it narrowed down to #1 intake corner of VC with stethascope

i had the same pro and wat i heard from experienced builder in ma town i was told that once valvetrain is stiffer is very normal to hear ticking once a while not everytime thoug mine do it like wen cold start stge2 cams

yea i excpect to hear a bit of extra noise nut not what i am getting

Have you pulled off the valve cover to make sure there is infact no nut bouncing arround In there? it is very possiable if all the nuts were not torqued down all the way after a valve adjustment. Happend to a buddy of mine lol

lol yea i have but i am goin to pull the cams this weekend and check even deeper, i may order 2 lma's u shown above and have just incase i feel that is the issue or get that far in
