Default Need help with B.A.R. need help fast.

Ok i have a 96 civic ex coupe. It has a B16A in it which I believe is a JDM motor and not a USDM motor. I'm not sure whether it's a 1st generation or 2nd generation. I have a chipped P28 ECU. Can this get Bar'd? If not what do I have to do to get it Bar'd? I have an appointment with a ref in the next couple of days so please help fast!!! Thank you.

Well look at the stamp at the head. Also you shuold know if its obd1 or obd2 since if you are running a obd2 engine with obd1 ecu you would have spare sensors not connected.

I thought the b16a was obd1. and how can I tell if it's obd2 and yes i noticed there is two wires not connected behind the block one of which is the knock sensor I believe. And what should I be looking for on the head? Thanks

In the front between the header. Beyween cylinder 3 and 4 or 1 and 2 from left to right. Looking at the engine from the front.

Ok just checked the head stamp and it says PR3-2
The block says B16A with these numbers under it: 5015523
ECU is P28 and in sharpie it has this written: Mugen 95k (Which I believe is the chip, correct me if im wrong.)
And on the ECU it looks like there is a conversion harness definitely doesn't look stock, so maybee thats a obd1 to obd2 conversion???

The first circle is the year it was made. And the second the month. Depending on what month it was made(in example a 93 stamp made on 12month would be considered 94. Most of the time anything really late into that year stamp can indicate next year)

Where do you stay? Cali?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think CA isn't BARing JDM blocks anymore. They just decline them. Thats the word I've been hearing.

WTF? You got a obd0 b16? If you do you are pretty muched F'ed. The engine has to be the same year or newer of your vehicle. So in your case you need a 96+ b16.

Some people say they do and some dont. I guess its up to the ref. As long *** you have all CALI emission sensors hooked up...you might get lucky. But yeah i believe thats tru. but his situation is worse cuz that engine is no where near obd2.

You are in luck. Thats a 98 head. So you might be able to. If you change to a b16a2 intake manifold and wire up the sensors...you might just get lucky. Cuz like stated above...JDM blocks arent BAR'able. But ive heard of people that have. I guess all you can do is try. Get a b16a2 ecu. The ecu has to be usdm. All the stuff has to be hooked up. Including having a cat. Might even have to be for a b16 also.

Thank you lord!!!! haha

so will a obd2 b16a2 ecu wire right up or do I have to get a whole new harness. And any way I can tell if the intake manifold is already from a b16a2?

Check to see if the Ourge solenoid is connected. Or take a pic. I might be able to tell. Apparently there is no JDM b16 on year 86. So yeah its a 98
