Default Need help on 99 Civic LX, I now have trouble codes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have 1999 Civic LX with 130,000 miles. The car was running hot for a few months, the fan would kick on once I stopped the vehicle. Coil pack went out and was replaced. A few days later the engine light came on and I had little or no power. The car sat for a day and when I started it the engine light stayed on and it ran fine for 20-25 miles then started missing only when I accerated. Car runs fine at a constant speed. It seems that if I allow the engine to cool it runs fine. I removed the cat and it was destroyed on the inside, the pieces actually fell out. I cleaned out the cat and replaced it and the exhaust, which had pieces of the cat in it. Problem is still occuring, could it be the o2 sensors since the cat was bad and is now completely gone. Can a bad o2 sensor causes a vehicle to do what is occuring to mine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The following codes showed up today:

135 Primary HO2S
141 Secondary HO2S
420 Catalyst System efficiency below threshold (Cat has been cleaned out)
300 Random Misfire
301 1 Cylinder misfire
302 2 " "
303 3 " "
304 4 " "

Any chance that replacing the sensors could solve the problem?

Exactly. Have you reset the ECM (thus clearing the codes) since you removed it and "fixed" the cat?

yes, codes were reset after cat was cleaned out. Is there any chance that if the two O2 sensors are bad theycould be tripping the other codes?

If your primary sensor went bad it will run you in open loop (rich) which damages the cat and of course also causes emissions to go up, tripping the secondary sensor. I doubt the cat will ever work properly again. Once it goes bad and is clogged and damaged, I think that's it. Especially of lots of the guts came out it cannot perform up to par.
