Need to get REFed WTF?
alright i have a stocker *** d15B8
i got some dc headers for free about 6 months ago put them on and about a week i finally got pulled over for my exhaust being too loud. I put my stock headers back on but im not sure what else i have to do. Any suggestions? and once i get the BAR ok sticker is it true that the cops cant ask to pop my hood again? b.c hopefully im gonna be swapping to boosted gsr in a couple months.

You don't need to get your car BAR'd for a header, I'm assuming what you got was a REFEREE ticket meaning the REF has to check out your car to make sure it's smog compliant. If the header you bought was intended for your car AND motor AND has a CARB EO# on it, you'll be fine. If it doesn't meet all three of those things, then you legally cannot use that part on CA public roads and highways. Later when you swap engines, that's when you'll need to obtain a BAR label for your car from your local REFEREE station. That label will let any law enforcement officer know that the car has a properly and legally swapped engine from another car and may even state what legal modifications are on the car as well. Here's my buddies BAR label from back in the day:
As you can see, it states the year of the motor that has been swapped and it's necessary smog equipment.

Most likely, you're going to have to go see the ref, so that he can test your exhaust sound level. When I was getting my swap BAR'd I read an article where people with exhaust tickets have to go to the ref to verify that the exhaust is ACTUALLY over the 90decible range. (maybe 96 I don't know for sure). If it is NOT over the limit, (many are not over the limit) the exhaust is passed, and certified. That way, if you're rolled after passing the sound meeter, you can show your certificate of compliance to the cop and tell him to fluff off.
Officers have to "play it by ear" and if they think it's close, they'll write you up. Many of those tickets do not exceed the limit. I asked the ref, if I got an aftermarket exhaust, can I come in and get mine certified, and he said that in order to have to come in, you have to FIRST get a ticket.
If your DC header has the CARB stamp welded onto it, your header is fine.

Just make sure you have all your smog equipment installed and hooked up right when you go in. Hopefully you have a better experience at the ref than I did.
