Need an engine...help?
Hey I was just wondering about this. I have the chance to get a 91 four door civic for free but the engine is frozen. What kind can I put in there, basically anything right? And I want to spend around $500 or less. What am I looking for and does anyone have anything? I want something dependable to drive in the winter.

D16Z6 (92-95 civic si) or a D16A6 (88-91 crx si)...you can find either of these for about 250 or 300 at an auto salvage yard...and because its such a small engine the cost of install would be super cheap maybe another 250....or just do it yourself...you can find out do it yourself guide's online, and its a honda...possibly the easiest engine swaping car available....

an 88-91 CRX / or Civic engine should bolt right in. No problem. You can use a ZC too, but it will cost you more than $500 when you get a tranny and ECU. Try Importautosalvage.com I think they used to have some CRX parts. If not, they could steer you in the right direction.
