NEED ENGINE ADVICE: B16A turbo or GSR N/A........
I need your advice about what engine to run in new project EK coupe. Basically it's down to USDM B16, stock internals and turbo OR GSR w/ NA build top to bottom. Basically it ends up being the same money either way I go. Which one do you guys think is worth the time and money? This is going to be a street car no strip time. Just something to irritate the hell out of some WRX's and Mustangs with. Any input would be appreciated. For that matter any suggestions would be appreciated as well.

Why not build a CRVTEC? Or better yet boost a D series. If you want boost and you have money to swap a B16 and boost it just build the **** out of your D series and boost it for that ammount.
If you have money for a GSR to be built just build a CRVTEC thats m4D t0RqU3 right there.

I guess I could have mentioned it's missing the motor and tranny. So it's all open. Give me your ideas guys and girls.... . The problem is, a D with turbo isn't going to be keeping up with any WRX's or Mustangs and a CRV/vtec is not what I had in mind although a good suggestion. Ok guys keep it coming...damn I guess that's what I get for wanting your suggestions lol. I'd like one of those RB26's please...to go...GEEZ???

Thats FI guys, You could get a D series NA to beat WRX, STI, EVOs no prob. You just need to get into low 13s and your there. You need to research better. And this is a watch of a thread just to beat a WRX and a Mustang. A MUSTANG!?!?! come on i beat GTs with my D15.

A turbo D series with proper tuning can run 12's.
That's definetly fast enough to beat lightly modded wrx's and mustangs.
But still, turbo b16 would be my choice(out of the choices you've given).
*edit: ah crap, took too long to post. Luserkid beat me too it.

You are talking about building a D to the point of insanity. My research is going fine thanks. If I'm going to build a motor it's going to be something like what I described before. I am happy to take suggestions, frankly I'm not interested in building a D. It sounds though as if you have done very well with it. The idea of a CRV/VTEC isn't a bad one. That's more money than I wanted to spend really. The engines I mentioned are readily available to me, therefore I was trying to deal with them. Thanks.

Why would you say something like that...it's a simple question. I only have experience with a N/A B16 and a LS/VTEC and thought I would ask around. I searched for two hours today to get ideas, I thought I would ask YOU GUYS to see what you thought. If you think it's retarded, why did you answer it? Thanks for your input though...really...
And to you guys that have D16's walking on Mustangs...why did you choose to build a D? I NEVER would have thought it would hold up to tons of boost...maybe I need to research D series instead of B series. I honestly never thought they were worth building. Sorry guys...learn something new every day.

that's slammed_93_hatch's quote if you haven't seen from other so-called "dumb" threads. i personally don't think it's a dumb question at all. hey it's a question, so all need to relax.
enough said...
This is out of the choices, but i'd do either the B16a N/A or GSR turbo.

I dont mean to beat a dead horse here, but "Timmay" on this board ran a 12.8 on bfg drag radials at 2200ft of elevation with a full interior 4 door civic. Turbo single cam with forged pistons and rods and a few other minor things.
Nowhere near "to the point of insanity".
Also "Singlecamscreamer" has run a mid 12 with a eg hatch, stock sohc vtec, and a 75 shot!
Just trying show you have alot more options than you think.
good luck with your project.

Re: NEED ENGINE ADVICE: B16A turbo or GSR N/A........ (CrazyHB)
This isnt' even a question.
The B18C is going to cost you 3500ish
The B16 is going to cost you 2500ish + 3k for a turbo. Do what your budget affords. Simple as that.
The B18C1 is going to be slower, but cheaper. The turbo B16 will be much faster. Do what you want. Go ride in a couple of each and see what best fits your wants/needs.
And open polls are a no no.
