there isnt a need for this

if the CAI is a 2 piece design, mount the 1st peice up top and the bottom peice from the bottom

if its one piece, you HAVE to take off the filter> runt he pipe through> attach the filter once the pipe is mounted up (to mount the filter you may have to remove the bumper and splash guard)

i mount the first part as if it is a short ram, and then the second part, i put it in, and there is a very small hole where the bumper is and the "splash guard", i barely get the pipe through and the filter cant go in, im sure i bought the cai for dx, im positive, it just that there is something in the way... idk what

if your putting the second in thru the BOTTOM (which is what you should do)

then you have to take off the splash guard, and maybe the bumper

because if you can get the pipe thru, the filterdoesnt go any farther up to the hole

this isnt a civic but the install guide is practically the same for fitting the pipe

hey OP I have a d16y7 also, and I also bought a CAI. and listen to the people here, do it right the first time so you don't have to keep re-doing it.
Take off the splash shield that would make life alot more easy + installation possible.
its like 4 plastic screws so don't try to avoid it.
then its all common sense by then.

Your intake pipe should look like this..... (for a d16y7) but it should have an additional piece that goes down in to the fender

Ps. this was when i first got the hatch.... traded that gay cai and header for stock + a set of hid's then replaced it all with a b16a2

and all other civic motors the intake manifold basically looks like this and uses this style of cai

my old car
