Default need charging system help

alright I got a 97 civic dx with a d16y7 turbo in it. I either had a bad battery or alternator both have been replaced now. voltage at the alternator is 16. something when car is running when held at 2,000rpm the voltage at the battery never gets higher then 12. something volts and I know it should be reading around 14 volts when held around 2,000 rpm , with lights on and a few other accessory running the voltage drops to 11.80 something volts, anyone have any idea why the battery isn't showing more volts or charging, also the charging system has never been touched before this any help is highly appreciated

also it just **** out on me on my way home the other day had no problems all day all of a sudden my Speedo and tach just dropped off and shortly after the car died

So you have 16 at the alt, but not as much at the battery? Check the wire and it's connectors that feed back to the battery from the alternator. There may be a fuse involved, too. Probably located in the fuse box under the hood.

Your car died because the battery voltage dropped too low.

The battery is used to startup the car, not to keep it running. It's the alternator's job to ensure that the car's electrical needs are met.

the big 40 amp fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay seems to be fine its contact thing it dose not look broken. also it seems the alternator is working its putting 16 volts out its just not at the battery , yeah the battery is just for start up that's why i don't get why its doesn't read around 14 volts when its running I have a Honda factory shop manual I've been checking everything it says, also my car is converted to obd1 and I have a jumper harness thats homemade and iam thinking that the passenger i had in the car the day it died maybe they kicked the harness or something?
