Need bolt in muffler replacement
Hi,
I have a 1996 Civic ex coupe 5spd.
I've used a greddy sp2 exhaust for the last 6-7 years. However, now the baffling in my muffler has essentially fallen into my muffler and is rolling around making a ton of metal rolling/clanging sounds. The rest of my exhaust looks like it's still in pretty good condition.
I need a direct bolt-on muffler replacement for this. I'm not interested in power or sound(quiet as possible please) because this is now my beater vehicle. Does anyone have recommendations on a direct bolt in replacement that I could order and bolt in? Do you foresee there being any issues because I have the sp2 piping and not the OEM piping?
Greddy discontinued the sp2 and it doesn't look like I can order just a muffler from them anyways. I really don't want to pay a muffler shop $300 to do this when I know if I could buy a bolt-on for $100 I could do it myself.
Thanks!

by "bolt in" you mean cut off old muffler then weld in new one as buying a new axel back would be pretty stupid. the vibrant stealth is pretty quiet in terms of things looks like a normal muffler also no 4'' tip of the flare style the greddy or ws2 have. 300$ lol muffler 100+10$ weld if you take the axelback off and bring it to any shop around here sure i'd be the same for you.

I'm in the same boat right now since my WS2 was stolen the other night, I have an OEM spec muffler I bought from Pepboys on there temporarily and it doesn't quite fit correctly with the rest of the cat back system, the piping diameter is too small, creating a leak where it bolts up by the axle, but I needed something to tone it down. Ordering a Vibrant tomorrow for like $100.

Get a borla or manga flow oval muffler. They sound really good and weld up under the car nicely.
I did a high temp black paint on mine so as not to draw attention to the muffler and it blends well with the back of the car

Re: Need bolt in muffler replacement
Initially I was thinking axle-back but now it seems that would be a little more expensive and the piping still looks like it's holding up.
I don't know what borla or magnaflow muffler would actually line up correctly with the 60mm piping I have and fit underneath the car ok and one that would be quiet, I can only guess by pictures. I have no way of seeing any of these mufflers in person.
I was quoted $75 to weld in a new muffler but I still don't know what muffler I should order. Anyone have any similar experiences and can recommend one?
Thanks
This seems to be the best bet I've found so far, but it's only 2" piping so I just wonder if that's too small:

Or this 2.5":

75$ for a weld lol don't get ripped of that badly I pay 0-20$ max around here at any garage. 60mm=2.36'' which is 2.5'' OD that 2'' will be to small the 2.5 is what you want there are no exhausts that I know of that are actually 2.5'' my Buddy club spec2 is 2.45 ID but that's the closest I've seen

Wow, 75 dollars... those guys must be smoking something really good! I wouldn't charge half that much and I would get crazy and TIG weld it just for giggles. If you lived nearby I would just show up and weld it for you for free but currently its a hell of a drive from japan.
You can get the manga flow in a 2.5 and they do have it with different tip locations to fit your needs.
