Mods: All stock except Megan Racing Header
Primary Concern: CEL light
Issue: Ok so weird one here. Originally there was a sputter, almost like a too lean sputter, and the car would not go over 2500 RPM. Also, the car liked to get down around 300 or so RPM on idle and would try to die. I picked up a new ECU 37820-P07-A01 and that fixed that problem.

But here is the weird thing.

On the bad ECU 37820-P07-A00, it would sputter, but no CEL was present. However, on the good ECU 37820-P07-A00, it runs fine, but there is a CEL.

Now forgive me, but I have yet to pull the code. But when I put the sputtering ECU back on, it goes away. I will be pulling the code tonight after work.

Is it a possibility that one ECU is set to a 7 wire o2 sensor and one is a 1 wire or something? I just don't get how 2 ECU's that are essentially the same would run off different o2 wiring. Could that be the case here?

Shouldn't have posted until you did. Any answers you get at this point will be guesswork, not real troubleshooting.
And I don't understand your O2 sensor logic either. How'd you make that leap?

That leap came from another ECU I had. When I purchased the car it came with 3 ECU's. The sputtering VX ECU, another completely shot ECU, and a ZC DOHC ECU.
When the ZC ECU was connected it ran perfectly fine but with a CEL and when the guy pulled the code he said it was o2 sensor. Which made sense to me at the time, different wiring. Then last night when I got the new VX ECU, same thing happened. So was just ruling a theory out.

Just pull the code and post it. Then reset the ECU to see whether the same code(s) returns.

Ok, so yeah, totally unrelated. Pulled a code 13 from the ECU. Atmospheric Pressure Sensor.
I just bought this as "perfect working order" ecu. Guess I got screwed and have to get another ecu?
I wouldn't think it was TPS or MAP since one ecu doesn't throw a code and this one does.
If the TPS or MAP was faulty it would throw a code correct? Trying to determine if the stuttering was really a bad ecu or faulty sensor. Unfortunately I don't have extra MAP or TPS sensors lying around.

Any suggestions?

That sucks, why do people have to be ****** and take advantage of people to make a buck?
Wife lost her job, 2 kids, mortgage, and student loans. Don't have the money to throw around to fix being scammed so some *** can make a buck. I just filed a report with eBay, hopefully they help out.

Was this action preceded by you contacting the seller about the issue? It's possible that he'll acknowledge the error and do the right thing.

Yeah, I basically open the case and they put me in contact with him. I won't do a negative feedback or anything until the problem gets left un-resolved. If he does the right thing, I close the case and leave a positive feedback. If not, then I leave a negative and let ebay handle it.

But I will not automatically demonize him and say he knew better. (Although his listing said, "tested) If that was the case, he would've seen the CEL on.
