Default need advice on ls/vtec?? what should i do??

i am going to pick up another 4 door civic ex today in ny. it has an ls/vtec in it but the guy says he has a civic vx ecu on the car right now. he says the motor runs nice and quiet and i can compression test it and drive the car of course if i want. my only concerns are the ecu and how should i expect the car to run and drive?? i just dont wanna get fucked. i have an obd2 ecu for a gsr, if i plug that in will the car run?? will it run better than the vx ecu?? i know it will throw codes but i just need to know the car/motor/wiring/tranny are ok.. so please gimme some input on what to look for.. thanks

dont expect the car to run all that great nor to be fast as it should be..a non vtec ECU in a vtec motor plus it wont be getting enough fuel and so on..

vx Ecu is kinda considered a VTEC ECU. you can reporgram that VX ECU to a DOHC VTEC program.

so as long as the motor has good compression and all the vtec wiring is there it should be fine except for the ecu?? as much feedback as possible!! thanks
