Need advice. b18c1 block was measured, exceeds service limits, have a few ?

This morning I took the b18c1 block to the machine shop to get measured.

The shop manual states:

Service Limits:81.07mm (3.192in)

Well, my block measures 3.193-3.194

1)I guess I will have to oversize to 81.25mm. Would bigger rings help me retain my current bore?

2) I am thinking about CTR pistons. What rods do you recommend?

3)I have read some good feeback on people using p30(jdmb16) pistons with a b18c1/c5 block and b16/itr head. Compression comes out to be 11.3.

Please let me know, your thoughts on this matter. THANK YOU~!

Note: I don't have a head for the block yet but please assume itr/b16 head with stock internals.

bore to 81.25 and put in oversized JDM ITR pistons. im not sure about the CTR pistons b/c of the clearance issues.

CTR pistons will work fine with any head you choose. But do you really want compression that high?

I'm going to agree on the JDM ITRs. That will bump you to 11.1-3:1 depending on what head you end up with. Add a mugen/spoon headgasket and you should have a quick little motor.

Stock rods should work fine for you (stock being either gsr or itr) unless you plan on doing something crazy with the motor in the future. If you get a little paranoid, you can always have them shot peened. Just a little extra insurance.

Stock rods
JDM P30 or P73 .25 overbore pistons and rings

Yep sounds like it machine shop time. Don't worry if you take it to the right people you'll have a quick motor on your hands. I suggest the .25 overbore ITR pistons w/ the B16 head. If you wanna get wild get some JE Pistons w/ the Eagle H beam rods. Just make sure that bottom end is put back together right and do the correct break in.

Also check out your crank and make sure that it doesn't have any wear on it. It might be good to get it balanced.

Thanks, the guys here at the local shop for $150 will:

power-hone, balance/turn the crank, balance pistons rods, hot tank the block and machine the heavy ass flywheel.

They gave me a tour of their shop showing me how they balance the crank, pistons, rods... Interesting stuff.

Please give your experiences, about pistons/rod setups with c1 block and c5/b16 head. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
