Default n00bie, Civic VTi - 1997.

Hello to one and all,

I am hoping you can have a read of the below information and partake some of your almighty honda knowledge!

I have a Civic VTI on an 97 R plate, its done 76k and runs well. Its got a Jap Invo Auto back box, full stainless down pipe and exhaust system and a HKS air filter. Skirts, bumbers and tints, only 15" honda alloys which are ok with the 40mm drop.

Whe I purchased the car I got receipts for the bloke having had Integra type R Valves and Springs fitted and also the VTec kick in is at 6500 not 5500. The car will happily rev all the way to 8500 which is 500 past redline, this is the only way to keep it in Vtec constantly. I am concerned that this will put adverse strain on the ickle 1.6 engine and needs to be corrected.

I have enquired about a hondata install and tune and been given the quote below, does this sound right?

" The cost of the programmable system for your car is £585.29, Tuning would be £260.00 this could be done in one day. Note this system is only programmable by us, however no further adjustment would be required. "

Q's.

Is the quoted price and info correct or there abouts?

Why would someone fit Integra valves and springs?

Any idea why the Vtec would kick in @ 6500 not 5500?

Is 76K to higher mileage to start messing about with the ickle thing?

What other relatively "cheap" mods can I do on the ickly beasty?

Any idea who could supply a made to measure gasket for the back box to rear pipe connection as there is a slight blow?

If any of you lovely knowledgable fellows can help I would be very greatful.

BoD
