Intake, header, exhaust. Tune-up. Givin the motor you have, there isn't much you can do, aside from a turbo, to increase performance.

Don't waste time and money modifying your engine unless you're considering FI. Start with suspension/brakes. It'll make the car more fun to drive.

HI. if you want serious powere go with a turbo, but you cant go over like 7 pounds.
you'll have to set it up for lower compression, change some gaskets to better ones,
and make sure your motor can handle it. with the intake, exhaust, and other little things like that, you wont really be able to tell a difference, although the exhaust along with better headers wouold help with a turbo. also the suspension and brakes would make a big plus in a driving sense.

True. I'd say I/H/E and that's about it, maybe get a cam gear/camshaft and that's about it.

JDM where ya been hiding at?

swap it, if he is just learning the basics I doubt he will want to deal with learning how to take care of a snail along with learning everything else about his civic.

if you got tons of $$$ and/or skillz go with K-series or B-Series (AND a turbo) otherwise just boost the D (cheap) and do some suspension mods and she'll be MUCH more fun to drive. Screw IHE and cam gears that will net you like 2HP/5TQ.

check out these sites and do lots of research (someone has already turboed your setup)...

If he is just learning the basics I dont think he would be ready for a homemade turbo and the hassle.

Well u do have a point because he would learn a lot having to rebuild the engine after he blows it with the homemade snail.
