In july the NYS inspection laws will change anything that is a 1996 or above will be scaned with an obd2 scanner to look at the emissions rateing of the car the stickers will be written directly from NYS. if u dont have a obd2 ecu that works your car can not pass and there is no way to just slap a sticker on it so if u do a swap and if ur car is a 96 or above dont go to obd1 and dont stright pipe ur cat and try not to mess with the any emissoins thing s on ur car becuase there is no way it will pass NYSI but 95 and below cars dont get emmision tested so keep that in mind

Yeah I go to school In roch and have a few friends that work for car dealerships there etc. They said that it was gonna be happening, it started down in Longisland like 2 years ago some sort of emissions, and there supposed to go into the next level or somthing but only for downthere because of the high population of NYC

in a NY state licensed inspector... and no you wont pass... jdm motors do not come with some emission control devices ..i.e EGR valve.. and that must be there.. other wise it will fail NYSI (new york state inspection) .. the test is not only hook it up to a machine and get the read outs... there are a lot of visual emission control devices that must on the car also... you can go on the NY DMV website and read up more on it.. but as far as your question "will you pass emissions with a JDM motor " the answer is NO... unless you get a lazy *** inspector that doesnt look... or one like me who loves hondas...

Where are you located as an inspector?? In central and upstate NY they DO NOT hook your car up to any machines etc for and inspection, no matter if you go to Joe blow the local mechanic, or if you go to a chain such as Sears, PepBoys, or Valvoline etc.
NYS is ONLY doing this in the Longisland area as of now
