Default Mystery Steering Column?

About a year ago, my girlfriend's car got stolen (1998 Honda Civic EX w/Power Steering). We ordered a replacement steering column from a junkyard. The steering wheel spindles were the same as her busted one, as was the location of the ignition bolts. Unfortunately, it was too short, and the hole in the bottom spindle did not match up with the bolt hole on the lower steering knuckle.

Could anyone tell me what this is? I've heard speculation that it is a DC2 steering column, but then the steering wheel spindles would be different....

Help, so we can sell this. We paid way too much, and need to regain a bit of the lost money.

Does anyone have any idea what this column belongs to?

just throwing this out there but what month was the car made in?

I had a 97 civic that was made in like june/july of 97, which kinda makes it a 1997.5 year car.

I had to replace a window once and I needed one from a 98 cause the 97 year one didn't fit.

They sometimes mix parts on cars near the end of their production cycle.

Well, we checked part numbers on all years, and they matched. I figure it has to be out of something else because it's just phyiscally shorter. Most civics don't go through structural changes within a generation.

Im not sure on the differences in lengths, but ive compared couplings before.

The coupling sizes are the same on the steering colum side as the civic, but the rack side of the coupling is different - the dc is bigger.
So if you had a DC rack & a EK steering column, you would need the DC coupling. If you had a EK rack & DC steering column, then you would still use your EK coupling.

From that pic it looks to me that the column is from an 03 and up civic.
that may be why it dont line up.
Junkyard tend to write down the year models on the parts
Thats just from me looking at the pictures and from what ive read

It's not a DC or EG, just so everyone is aware. The splines match an EK steering wheel, so it has to be out of something that an EK wheel would fit on.
