Default mysterious oil leak

i have a d16z6 with an oil leak i can not find. it looks like its coming from between the head and block but i don't think that is where its actually coming from. it goes from the vtec solenoid around to the front and gets less and less till it stops in the middle of the cylinder head. there is also some behind the timing belt. there is no oil coming out around the distributor, and it not dripping down from the valve cover on to the head.
here is a crude drawing of what i'm seeing.

looks like a distributor O ring never hurts to replace the vtec solenoid gasket either. could also be the valve cover gasket. always cheap easy fix....

don't think its the distributor cause its all clean under it, but i will check again tomorrow. the head gasket isn't that old, this motor has only been in my car for 3 months. btw i built this with eagle rods and vitara pistons if that means anything.

I can almost promise that it will be your vtec seals (theres 2) I think there about $18 for one and $20something for the other, I had same problem on 2 different hondas, one d16, other b16. I makes the motor look like the head gasket is bad. If you look over the passanger side fender, behind the vtec selionide you will see where the leak is comming from.

I would honestly have to see it but i know usually is the leak is coming from under the vtec and the oil leak comes to the front of the engine, its the v tec gasket.

ha ha... had similar problem... had to go to dealer to get the gaskets... the service man said the v-tec strainer (which is also the gasket) is the most frequent gasket they change in that area. i thought it was just the dizzy o-ring but he was right. but he did say you might as well change both at the same time.

v-tec strainer - 15825-p2m-005 cost < $18
dizzy o-ring - 30110-pa1-732 cost < $5

its the same part for the y8 and z6
