Default is my vtec engaging a little late?

Hi i was driving my 93 eg civic 1.6 B16A2 engine around today and was in 3rd gear from a slow rolling start...

Anyway i started acclerating in that gear and at around 5200rpm i expected the vtec to come in... but the vtec came at a later rpm of 5500... But it still red lines at 8300.

Is this a problem? something wrong?

Please help, thanks

If you didn't touch the ECU or anything then there is no reason why Vtec would suddenly change activation points. As has already been stated, tachs are off.

tach might be lagging because of the winter, depending on where you are, mine seems slower when its cold.
