Is my vic ex Vtec?... Trans problem too!
Whats up
I drive a 1997 honda civic ex 5spd... when i bought the car it was my sisters, she bought it off a dealer and i dind' tknow anything about cars very well i think i was like 14-15... and on the papers it said V-tec...so i'm 17 right know and my sister ended up giving me her car.... so my friends are saying its not vtec because it has to be written on the Engine SOHC V-TEC.... i'm not too sure how can i find out?.... just know i had to put a brand new clutch so i put a Stage 1 Clutch masters and my transmission is done in a week? everytime i downshift it makes a wierd noise...... why is that?.... Thanx

Not all sohc vtec motors have vtec on the valve covers.
Get rid of that Crapmaster clutch ASAP. Get a ACT.

I bet the people that say it's not VTEC because its not on the block, are the same type of people that say that have a Civic TypeR because they went to PepBoys and bought the badge. And yes, get rid of that clutchmaster, and look into the ACT. Or, maybe you just need to get use to the new clutch. I'm not saying that you are a bad driver, but you may not have enough experience yet.

oh trust me... i know how to drive... i learned to drive stick in less then 2 min... i wanted to do it all my life... and i learned at 13 years of age... in my back yard which is huge... so it really wasn't much a problem ... i never stall... probably once in a blue moon .... if i'm not paying attention or by accident..... i usually teach girls.. but they burn the **** out of it lol... and omg my friends like they rev it too much and pop teh clutch.. i mean its not so hard...

Ignore these ppl, i'm sure each one has a friend of a friend who had a bad experience with so and so company, clutchmasters is fine, Ive had ACT, clutchmasters, exedy, driven every day, no complaints from any of them. If you better describe the noise you think is a problem we can maybe help.

i let one of my boy's drive my car.. and he said its beatiful... it grabs very quickly...
