Default My suspension plan... give me your thoughts.

I want my Civic to handle better and lose some wheel well gap, but also maintain a good ride and have it all work for at LEAST 3 years. So I have studied a bit and come up with this. I have a 1998 Honda Civic Si (EX)

Check to make sure insurance will still insure me with this stuff

Then buy an Eibach Pro Kit and KYB GR-2 shocks. Some say the GR-2 are like stock shocks. Well, as long as they hold up better than the stock ones that will blow. Plus Tom from this board has had nothing but a good experience with these shocks I read. ALSO, they are very attractively priced.

So, Eibach Pro Kit, KYB GR-2 and then get an alignment done. But no need for camber adjustment.

I only want a bit better handling, lowered look, and for it too last like this for a while.

Now the springs, shocks and alignment is all I need to replace for the suspension to be ok right?

Sound good? Or something not good here ?

If you drop it more than an inch you should really get camber kits...

What i did
Tokico blues with their spring 350 for the set about a 1.75 drop...
camber kits (skunk 2 front aluminum silvers in the back) about 260
Alignment 50
so about 660 total. My car looks much better handles much better and my tires wear evenly. Shocks should last a good long time.

I have found that the Pro-kit springs seem to be awfully soft. But they are Eibach so they should last forever. I can barely notice the drop on my 2000. At times they seem bouncy to me but that could be my tokico struts. I am going to install Koni Yellows and Ground Controls as soon as i get them. I just feel like the Pro-kits are to soft.

But if that is what you want then buy what you want. I am just telling you what I think about them. I am sure there are alot of people out there that love thiers.

that sounds like a pretty good setup. I have pro-kits on my 99 DX with Koni sport shocks. The ride quality of the pro-kits is nice.

Let me know if you want prices on the shocks and springs. I can get either ones for you.

have you thought above replacing just your shocks? i.e. koni yellows?
the koni yellows have perches that can lower your car about 1.5 inches. Plus you can stiffen the ride as much as you like. These matched with soft stock springs equals a comfortable ride, and not as sloppy as stock. Check this out, and look into it.

That sounds perfect for your stated priorities. More aggressive setups will compromise your ride quality. I had eibach prokits with GR2s on my Corolla, and it felt more like a Lexus. Those springs and struts are perfectly matched and should be sold together as a package.

Props to you for considering struts and not springs exclusively.

If later you want to improve handling even more w/out sacrificing ride quality, get some heavy duty swaybars. Best bang for your buck suspension mod.

you WILL NOT need a camber kit with eibach pro-kit!!!!!

read this guys!!!...........it'll help all you guys that think that tire wear is caused all by negative camber!!!

I used to have the OG skunks, (when they were still called skunkworks) stock shocks, then changed the shocks to tokico blues. I stuck with that setup for like 4 years. Then I felt that the shocks were losing its life so I went back to stock and dumped the tokicos. Then I got kyb gr-2 cuz i got a good deal on them, and they felt like stock! Wasted my money... I found out that when any auto repair shop replaces shocks, they go with gr-2's beacuse its cheaper than factory. Whack . Anyways I'm came across a set of used ohlins damper kit and its hella dope. U should get the tein basics, I think that it will only be 200 more than what u are going to spend on this setup. Man once u go real coilover system u will never go back to eibachs and xxx shocks. But if decide to stay with this setup, at least get tokico blues, or illuminas. KYB

i rolled a pro kit and AGX's on my 98 civic ex. Rode awesome... but i wanted a little bit more of a drop. You should get the AGX's man. The dampening adjustments actually works, and and works good.

There is a thread on H-T that prooves that Toe causes uneven tyre wear rather than the camber. So getting a camber kit isnt really necessary unless your car is pulling to on side after lowering it...

Correct me if im wrong..

I have Tein S-Tech Springs and Tokico shocks(the blue ones), together they are pretty soft, but since i got my swap i need stiffer suspension.

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=811268

read that the post's that me tom (b18c5eh2) and patrick94gsr made, we speak the truth.

now back on topic, this will give you better handleing but it won't be great. id suggest going with GC coil over with integra spring rates and KYB AGX, lower it were you want it and your set, i have been rideing on a this setup for a long *** time and i put my suspension to work alot, and for 2 years my car was DUMPED, and the AGX's are holding up great. and the good thing with coil overs is you can put it at the exact height you want, plus you could add sway bars and a tie bar and have a great handleing car with good ride quality.

but the pro kit and the GR2's will ride great but IMO well lack in the handeling department, but will be better then stock

Eibach pro kits dont lower cars enough. Get different springs if you dont want very much fender gap.
