Re: my sol wont start wont crank just a click
try jumping the terminals on the starter. if the solenoid is bad it wont transfer power to the starter coil . So the solenoid would click on as the arming coil is powered but the starter motor wont turn to start the motor because there is no power to it.
If you jump the terminals it applies current direct to the starter motor bypassing the solenoid. If the engine cranks while you jump the terminals , you can start the car if you put the ignition switch to the on position, and then jump the terminals.
I had some intermittent starter problems in my 97 cl and i had a remote starter button clamped on the starter before i could get to the parts store. So then that way the car was drivable. A test at the auto parts store can also confirm this.
Sounds like you need a starter

Is it draining your battery? Check for a short.
If the battery is strong, check for an error in your wiring.

no. if they dim they are losing power simple as that. you have a bad ground. check everythign and clean stuff with sand paper were they bolt together also check battery terminals for contact and clenliness. if there is no sigsn of this put the battery on a charger and check the hot lines to and fron the battery and starter for no rub through.
