Default Is this my service connector??

I've been searching by my ecu for my service connector so I can set my timing and the FAQ's I've read say it's a grey clip with a black/white stripe and a red/black stripe.

this is all I found. a green cover with two connectors in it and one of them is a two wire connector. I cant find ANYTHING else in the area???

The one on the left is the one you could jump. The 3 wire one is if you have the obd1 scanner.

The green thing is just a protective holder so the plugs dont get damaged due to the area there in.

The wire color doesnt matter really because if honda ran out of a certain wire color there not going to stop production to get more, theyll use what they have.

My snap on guy wanted something in the ball park of 2500 for the scanning tool (its all cars though). Honda doesnt sell one i dont believe.

I'm surprised there isn't one.

You can get an OBD-II scanner that just spits numbers to you (and a reference book for you to look 'em up in) for like 175 bucks. My dad was thinking about getting one for the Jetta and my GTI (which is a complete waste and I talked him out of it - free scans at autozone!!!!).

Though with that only being like 175 or 200 or 250 or whatever the hell it was, I'm surprised an OBD-I scanner costs 2500. I think it depends on the type, I'm sure you can pick one up for less.

Though some OBD-I cars (like the civic, I know my ford probe did as well) have service connectors you can jump to get the CEL to tell you what code it's storing...so it's almost not worth it (I'm not sure if the service jumper encompasses all OBD-I cars, but all the ones I've had it did).

Hey I'm kinda curious, how are you throwing CEL's without your ECU?

.

Not a flame, I'm dead serious.

??

I've got an obd-1 p75 running the car...what are you talking about??

edit: oh, I think I see what you mean haha.

the ecu is outside of the picture on the carpet man...

you can sorta see the black hard plastic wire casing off in the far left of the picture.
