Default My ride is killing me...

I currently live in downtown Atlanta. This means that if I want to go in any direction I have to travel roads with bumps, potholes, and road construction that are absolutely insane. My current setup is nice when its smooth, but I would like to upgrade to something that would take the abuse a bit smoother.

My current setup:

Prothane full urethane kit
Koni Yellows
Neuspeed Sports
Type R rear swaybar
Integra front swaybar

I also have a skunk 2 camber kit and new steering rack that haven't been installed yet.

I'm open to all suggestions. I really want the input ofthose who live in the city.

I haven't ridden in your car but I would think it's the prothane kit that is the culprit.

I've got the teg rate GC coilovers on illuminas in my fatass Si and it's pretty non-jarring really. I travel the exact same roads as you. I've even got ES bushings in my front lca's too.

correct me if I'm wrong but aren't those springs pretty soft? Maybe you should raise your car? If I remember correctly, it's pretty low.

I'd say it's the prothane kit as well, your springs aren't very hard.

Yeah, its starting to squeak too, probably the kit as well.

Since I am probably not going to go to the trouble of replacing the prothane kit. (Already spent 2 weekends putting it in) would you guys recomend the teg rate ground controls or some other spring? Im pretty sure that my springs are hurting me. No shock travel.

Going to be at the meet Thursday Matt? Id like to ride in your car and see how it feels.

Yeah I've tweaked the shocks a bit and its better. I guess it really shouldnt be that great considering all the construction on campus.

The springs are sports by the way.

Your urethane bushings are the main culprit. Also, goin with teg rate ground controls or another spring will only make the problem worse... Higher spring rate == harser ride. Unfortunately you can't have a race suspension that is pothole friendly. You can try setting the koni's a little softer. Also, get a strut tower brace if you don't already have one. Believe it or not, but it does help smooth out the ride by preventing the chassis from flexing and allowing your suspension to soak up more of the bumps.

So, there are 2 routes that you can go... You can start softening the suspension or start stiffening the chassis. A stiff chassis won't flex as much as a stock chassis and will transmit more shocks/bumps to the suspension.
