Is this my power steering belt??
2 quick questions guys, I'd really appreciate some help.
First, is this my power steering belt or what is this belt for?
-just found this belt slipping out of place
- how can I loosen this belt of to replace?

Second question,
I have been having this squeak/screech every time I step on gas, but every time through out all gears just as long as I am pressing the pedal, is that belt the cause?
- sounds like the noise comes with in around that area where the belt is slipping off.
Again thanks to those for your advice and help.

Re: Is this my power steering belt??
I can't feel anything loose.
That power steering belt feels pretty tight.
But now that I remember, I have pulley misalignment due to not having a 2000 civic si lower power steering bracket.
Do you think that makes sense ?
Could that be a possibility?

Re: Is this my power steering belt??
The fact that you dont have the proper mounts for the power steering pump therefore causing misalignment is more than enough to cause the squeak your talking about. remember that the pulleys and belt system was designed to work in close to perfect alignment. When they are misaligned, the contact surface of the belt is decreased causing it to slip ever so slightly, causing the squeak.

Re: Is this my power steering belt??
I have the same problem with a belt squeaking mostly when it is cold or if there is alot of condensation but it would be cause by the same thing. Mine is from my alternator belt where the nut for the bottom bolt is missing and it is not letting the alternator align correctly.
