Default My poor b16... pics are big

well i was drivin home last night i dropped it to third and right at about 7500 rpm's the motor sounded like it hit rev limiter and shut off.. so i coasted to my drive way and got it into the garage.. we took off the head and this is what we found..again sorry the pics are huge i havent figured out how to make them smaller... i dont know why the valve snapped.. i was running ctr cams without the dual valve springs.. so that might have been the problem.. i havent even had the motor for a year.. and i was just geting ready to buy a turbo today.. now its time for a new b16 project. and next time im puttin in the dual valve springs..

piston vs valve... valve wins

now for the head

the metal chunks went through all four cylinders..

looks like it might be time to build up a nasty b16! Use the money you were going to go turbo with, and build up an All Motor B16 instead ...or you could just get the block resleeved, low CR pistons, and buy a new head, and build for turbo...Either way, good luck

Does a broken timing belt do the same damage?

I agree why not rebuild that one up resleeve it get another b16 head and use those CTR cams with a springs and such you don't need to buy a new long block.

Unless you need this thing back on the road like yesterday.

Looks similar to what happened to me with my B18C... Same cylinder and everything!

Bought what I thought were Skunk2 valves from a guy on eBay,
but I don't think they were real, because one broke after only 243 miles
of easy driving (never past 4k), and caused lots of damage...

Pics here: http://www.cnyconcepts.com/for...cca48

Tough luck, man, but now you've got your excuse to build it bigger and badder!
