Default my motor is TOAST

On the way home from work two days ago I noticed a whirring type sound. I thought it was a belt or something and it lacked power, not like I had much to start. Today I changed my oil since its been about 3000 mile since my last. When I was draining the oil only about 1.5 quarts came out. HOLY HELL. Have I been driving around with only 1.5 quarts of oil? The engine never over-heated. Can I save this engine? There is 86k miles on the engine. Its just a dy16y7 and I don't have much cash to spend on a new motor or a rebuild. What could I have destroyed and how much would it cost to fix?

Did your oil light come on? Did your CEL come on? Put in the correct amount of fluid and drive it around. Put in a new filter. I'm thinking you didn't do much damage.

slap some new acl bearings in it. be sure to hone it. then there you go.

bearings =100
hone job = depends on the machine shop
labor = do it yourself

Its not as bas as I thought after I put some mobile 1 in it and drove it around. There is definatly a loss of power though. I'm gonna see if I can find someone with the same motor and same milage to compare compression. Its good enough to safely get around so when I get some cash I'll do a swap and get rid of my auto tranny.
