Default My Mini Me

So I lost my job last week which sucks, but on a good note it has given me the free time i've needed to put my car/engine together.

I could just drop in a jdm d15b, but I figured I would put my stock bottom end to use.

Part List:
Stock D15b8 bottom end.
2 Layer D16y8 HeadGasket (middle layer removed)
JDM D15b Head
D16y8 Intake Manifold
Generic CAI
D16y8 Tranny
7.5lb Flywheel
Exedy Organic Clutch
BroSpeed 4-2-1 Headers
Z Speed Cam Gear
Test Pipe
Greddy SP Exhaust
P08 ECU
MSD SCI Ignition

I just assembled the long block and put new seals in the tranny. I still need to mod the y8 intake mani, need to get a key for the cam gear (the key was part of the stock cam gear) and connect all the required hoses ect... Then I need to get my hatch ready, but it will happen pretty soon.

My pics suck because my camera was acting retarded, but ill get some more pics up later.

More updates to come.

Not to much more done.. but a little bit of an update.

Have a few pics im not sure 100% on a few things for the y8 mani. I have a helms for the 92-95, but dont have a diagram for the y8 mani, if someone could link me to a previous post or post a pic that would be great.

No idea..

Same..

Brake Booster?

Cruise Control?

Misc Pics.

Another shot of the clean cyl. head

Did the usdm cam gear come with the key or where they on the cam gear itself?

the second picture is a fuel return line, and you are right about the brake booster.

And the key is that little notch in the the hole that goes on the cam.

No idea.. i know the right nipple goes to a vacuum source, (the intake manifold), but i'm not sure about the other end--- but i think it goes to the EVAP canister

about the cam key... just go a parts store and ask for an assortment of woodruff keys.... find the one that fits the best. i had to file mine down a bit to get it to fit correctly

Is there a way to replace these studs? If i go a head and go with out it, am i going to be left with an exhaust leaek?

The engine bay is all painted up, I just replaced the stock brake booster and MC with one from a rs.. tomorrow i will be doing all the hardlines.. and getting the bay finished up for the engine to go in

its perfectly fine. when the exhaust gets hot, the nut actually adheres to the stud. then the entire thing comes out in one piece

its not a worry. a standard 12mm i believe should do the job.

wait... unless it broke off? and half is still inside?

and oh yeah, you couldn't get the driver side axle out? i had the same prob. just make sure not to put any excess stress on it. then when the motor is in, pull the knuckle outward and slide the axle in..... but u already knew that

Yeah, the studs just screw out, as long as you can grab it with some vice-grips .

I feel your pain about the manifold troubles. Maybe my y8 mani thread can help point ya in the right direction .

Yes, you can get those from Honda, that's what I would recommend, unless you've got another head laying around, you can pull one out of it. It's a double threaded bolt. Just use the two nut technique *hehe* and then wrench on the one closest to the head. They should come out fairly easily. Put anti-seize on the threads when you install them, also
