my little b16a that could finally breathed life tonight!
Yes it runs. Finally.......after about a 6 month process of gathering parts, it breathed its first life tonight. Has a vacuum leak and it doesn't like to idle, but I am pretty sure I know where the leak is, there is one of the vacuum ports on the TB that gotten broken off accidently so I have to find a way to plug that up temporarily till I get my 64mm TB and skunk2 intake mani on. when it was first cranked, it was just with the header, nice and loud! Boy did it sound good! heehee...........hopefully when I get it to idle right I will be able to get the throttle straight, as it stands right now it is sticking a little, so a few bugs to work out, but the little $400 motor that could finally shedded all doubts tonight and ran! The little bit I drove it, it felt strong, but at this point anything probobally feels strong to me!
Hopefully all the bugs will be worked out of it soon!

That reminds me........any good suggestions on what to do if the throttle butterfly wants to stick a little bit when it is closed? like when you first try to open it, it seems like it wants to stick closed. I cleaned the hell out of it with TB cleaner and tried to scrap it out well, any other suggestions?

The throttle cable will occasionally stick if the cable is not tight enough, it's hard to get it just perfect. Also, if you are not using stock brackets, b16 throttle cable etc, sometimes the cable will get into a bind, when using a gsr throttle cable in my 94 ex, I manufactured a bracket to make the cable stationary along the firwall as it does in integras, this caused the cable to stick where the bracket held it and it would hang open and I would have to pop the cable loose with my toe, really embarassing.

Well the story goes like this. when I first started looking for a hb I ran accross this kid who needed a few parts for a swap he was gonna do on a 94 dx coupe. He bought the b16a (engine only) from Japan Direct www.usedengines.com he bought through me a clutch kit, yada yada for his ride. Called me up and told me he decided to go with a b18b instead cause he wanted torque and boost. well his parents buy him anything he wanted but aparently he couldn't get $400 for some part for that swap, I told him I would buy his b16a for $400 (jokingly I might add) and he said when do you want it. So obviously I jumped on it, and got the motor, to even add to that he didn't even want to mess with the stock motor out of his dx, asked if I could get rid of that, and his 3 spare d series tranny's for him. I was like whats wrong with them..........he said nothing, I just don't want them. So of course I took them, by the time I sold the 3 trannies, the block to the dx (I have the head still if anybody needs one! )and I found my hatchback that had a blown b16a in it already. Sold the good block out of the hb, and got christmas money, the car and motor only cost me $300 out of pocket, not counting what I put in to the swap to insure a good swap, clutch (no duh right), rear main seal, front seal, cam seals, tranny seals, ecu, and other misc. things you do on swaps. Yeah I got lucky getting all this for the price, but like I always say, if a real deal is there and you know it, jump on it.

Here are some pics of the car still in the putting back together stage, but nonetheless pics of the car, here you go.......
just don't flame too much, BTW, if you see fiberglass patch on the CAI, there was a hole there, filled it in fixing it, and body matching it And the engine bay is a MESS like my ghetto plug wire holders temporarily till I get a spark plug cover, etc.

Great job so far...damn, talk about lucky, grabbin a B16 for $400..
Damn you need a new valve cover forget trying to clean all that up..
oh and ditch that antenna you have in the rear of your car
And you interior is pretty colorful but I am sure when everything is done, you are going to have one sweet looking hatch :D
I think you should keep those CRX rims, give it a nice drop and its a different look that you dont see often especially with the color of your car.

Passenger door is off a red car obviously. And the wheels came with the car and yeah whoever mounted the tires was a moron, I have new tread goin on it in a week so that will be corrected, directional wise anyways!

Ya i lov ethe feel of a cable clutch. But i also swapped from auto to standard and the cable is much easier to run than the hydro lines.
