my hood won't close
Hey everybody. I'm new to the forum so just wanted to say hello.
Also, my hood won't seem to latch all the way. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Can anyone shed some light on how to fix this latch? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Re: my hood won't close
Tons of different options but the first is easily accessed with a wrench... adjust either A. The rubber stopper that adjust hood height located on left and ride sides of the core support. B. Adjust the hood latch that is on the core support; it moves up or down about 1/2" In your case you would adjust it up, keeping in mind it must stay centered. 3 bolts. GL..
In the future post what vehicle and pictures also help with these sorts of things(You just posted this as my post was going up lol). Welcome; btw =p

Re: my hood won't close
Thanks you guys for the help and the warm welcome. I tried what was suggested and it still won't latch all the way. I think part of the latch mechanism is stuck. Last time it did this my friend popped something with a flathead screwdriver and then it closed properly. I haven't had any luck with that technique since I don't know what needs prying.

Re: my hood won't close
This is how your latch should look. This is a 95 hatch.
The part my finger is on is the actual latch that shuts over the U ring on the hood. If this is not in this position (as shown exactly in the pictures) it will not latch properly. This is opened and ready for the hood to be shut. The screwdriver could have been used to push the front portion which my finger is on--- to the right, this will allow it to latch. WD40 or some white lithium grease will resolve it; if that's just sticking.
If all else fails- to drive safely to work take a rope/string/wire/whatever and take it through the U ring on the hood and below your car in the front you should have two of these steel eyelits. Fish the rope through them all and tie it off; making sure no rope can be dragged/catch on any moving parts.

also look at the latch in the car, the wire it pulls on might be stuck in the open position, push the wire back into the sleeve.

Re: my hood won't close
Many thanks to 99ssiroc and civicsmoke! My hood is now latched! I checked the latch position and that seemed to be in the right place. So I checked the hood release lever and the cable was backed up! If i run into this problem again i will know what to do. Thanks for going out of your way to take pictures too!
