Is my gas gauge or fuel pump bad?
I've noticed that sometimes if I leave my car sit for a few days and then try to start it sometimes it wont start and I have to keep trying and normally it eventually starts. One time it wouldn't start and the gas gauge said it had maybe 1/6 a tank but I added 2 gallons of gas and it fired right up.Also I notice that the gas guage reading varies with my speed. For example at idle it'll be half full and then I start shifting at high RPMs and it'll drop to maybe 1/4 tank(and if I start driving at normal speeds it'll go back to half full). Is that something all civics have to show you that your wasting twice as much gas when at high RPM opposed to low RPM driving?
So does it sound like the gauge, fuel pump or the sensor in the tank is bad?

Has a after market AEM filter and aluminum pipe,D15B engine, gas psi guage(I've had this problem since before I installed the guage).Thats about it.Everything else is stock as far as I know. And I don't remember the exact number but the psi gauge reads around 35 psi at idle.

have you tried letting the pump cycle before you start it, by turning the key to the on position and wait till you hear the relay click off then try turning it over? i know when im low on gas i will sometimes have this problem, and if i cycle it it will fire up right away, esspecially after sitting for a while.

+1 I always let the fuel system pressurize before I start the car. If you can't hear the fuel pump prime (my walbro is loud as ***** when it primes) then just wait till your check engine light turns off.

Well I always wait until after the check engine light turns off before I start it.So it should be primed when the light goes off?

Yea it should be primed if the check engine light goes off. The gas gauge will show less when accelerating hard or going around a turn because the fuel shifts back or to one side. It'll even out again when you stop accelerating or turning. Just something that civics do.

I think its only happen when its close to empty.
Is the fuel level sensor in the fuel pump?Does anyone have a pic of it?
