My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Not sure if htis belongs here, so mods you can move it if you like.
My car is a 96 civic DX hatch. It has 91k miles I just painted it and got new rims/tires. I have no A/C but he doesnt care. My friend has a 00 prelude. It has like 180k miles, the body needs some work, and the interior does as well. He said he will give me the prelude if I give him my car plus $1000, fair trade? |
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
He says he needs a car that gets good gas mileage for work.

Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
this really should be your choice. what would make you happiest is clearly up to you man. if you want info on preludes to help your choice, you know were to find it
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Would you guys do it? I mean a prelude is a sick car and the H22 is very tempting, then again 180k miles is a LOT of miles.

Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
His prelude looks almost exactly like this same color, but with some damage on the fenders and stuff.

Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Lol I dont care man I just want to hear what other people would do in this situation.
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
u should drive his car and see if you like it or not. if i was u i would keep the ek, i seen it when u was just doing the 99 front conversion and it came out great. but its your car, do what u like
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
dont give him the 1g (cuz he the 1 who want to trade).... car for car or nothing.... than u can use the 1g to repair the prelude... lol
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
I really like the EK, it's just its VERY slow and I dont want to do an engine swap, with the prelude it's already very fast

Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
don't do it. His car sounds like manure.
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
i dont really know much about preludes but u can tell by the rims. does he have the same rims as the 1 in the picture? if so its prob a base model ( not type sh ). your car is too clean to trade for a beat up lude just because u want speed. turbo your single is better

Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Your posting in a civic forum, I'm sure a lot of people are going to say keep the civic...but you asked for opinions, so here it is.
Keep the hatch, but I'm biased, I love hatches. I don't care for preludes. Based on your two cars, keep the hatch. You don't want the headache of having to repair and what not. No A/C? Go to a junkyard and get yourself a cheap dx a/c system for under $300 bucks for everything, condenser, lines, evap, etc. with a CR-V bracket and boom, got yourself A/C. I bought a 2000 taffeta hatch with no A/C, no motor from a friend who blew the LSV. Did a complete b16 for $1200, plus $300 more for an A/C from a stock dx and I got myself a wonderful daily and cool A/C. Performance-wise man, just do an engine swap, you'll end up with a better power to weight ratio (depending on what motor you get) because that hatch will always be lighter than the prelude (comparing the chassis of course) and they both have the same FF drivetrain. In the end, the civic has more potential from the get go. Plus, you got a 99-00 front end conversion and sied markers that looks sick already...why give it away? Of course this is all in my humble opinion. :) I'm just looking at your hatch and man that thing has potential! IF you give it away, your friend will be the one lucking out in my view, plus if you give him a grand, I'd feel sorry for you. |
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
In my opinion, I would say no. Unless that I really wanted a Prelude, but in the end the Prelude is a bigger car. You need to run premium, the H22 have chances of leaking oil and you have so little to no choice of engine swaps and stuff to do for your car that simply isn't Honda-Tech. xD I'm pretty sure people here all love to mod their cars to their liking, from just rims to full interior. I can tell you I love Civics because of their availability in parts and variations.
But, if you are into Preludes go for it. The thing is you said the body had damages. The motor has such high mileage and is known for leaking oil or burning oil or Vtec problems. It will in the end cost more to maintain. |
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Dang A/C for only $300? I was thinking it would cost around $1200...
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
im sure you already know your answer... and everyone in this thread is basically saying the same thing which is to keep your civic. the end.
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Agreed, keep your civic, ludes are a PITA to fix and are expensive, its basicly the GM of hondas. Dont get me wrong i love a mint lude, but his aint mint, and isnt worth it.
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Alright guys it sounds like keeping the EK is a better choice, is doing an H22 swap hard/expensive? Compaired to say a GSR.
|
Re: My friend wants to trade me his prelude for my civic
Dont do it
Dont do it Dont do it |
