Damn these tires rule!!!!! i took my car to the track for the first time with the Azenis on!!! and GOSH!!! ok..to give you a brief history of my car...I am running a 2000 Civic EX coupe with AEM CAI, DC 4-2-1, 2.25 exhaust....my first time out i had 17konig Monsoons with Kuhmo 712 rubber...the best that i can get out of my car was a 16.7 and consistent 17 second timeslips....my 60' were consistent 2.5. Well tonight i ran my car with the same mods but with 15inch Slipstreams and 205/50/15 Falken Azenis....my best runs of the night..and i did it twice were both 16.4 and consistent 16s 1/4 times..and get this!! my 60' are still consistent 2.5-2.4....These tires are badass!! i may still be in the 16s..but damn..these tires dropped 4 tenths of a second off of my 1/4. I am damn happy and very satisfied with my results...keep in mind these tires have just been put on since thursday 6/13/02..im not sure if this would matter but the tires still haven't been broken in yet...i only have had these tires for 3 days!! PUhaHAha..i wonder how they will hook up when they are actually broken in....responses anyone?

if u want to really see how great they perform, go canyon carve, autox, or run a track event.

Ha ha.. i will dont' worry..but i already took them on highway off ramps..just to test them out...those off ramps that are like huge u turns..but anyways..i took it at 69..and those tires were still gripping!! the only problem was that i was understeering..he he..i need a rear swaybar..and i am sure i can go low to mid 70s because my tires weren't even squealing when i took it at 69

If you 60 foots are the same as the other wheel/tire combo you were running, you dont have enough power to take advantage of the grip. So the grip of the aziens isnt helping you at all. Maybe you need to rev higher, probably in the 4-5k range.

My guess on the improvent in time comes from less rotating weight going down the track.

And there is little to no break in required for these tires. If you drove them to the strip you "broke them in".

I love onramps too, and I don't need aziens to take them at "70". I would suggest you learn the limits of you and your car in a controlled environment.

i did launch my car at 5500 when i ran those two 16.4 passes....umm..and i am running ground control coilovers/Koni Yellows...i know my suspension can hold its own...maybe not the best setup in the world..but let me get my sway bar..and see how much it will improve...im thinking about getting a 21mm rear sway bar..

funny thing is a lot of young knuckleheads try to learn end up getting in bad accidents...i totally agree on knowing your limits BTW i'm kinda torn between Azenis and So3's...

S03s..good all around tire..cuz it can hold its own on the dry and WET pavement, unlike the azenis that suck in the rain...however..the azenis can beat the S03 on the grounds of price and treadwear..i have no experience on the s03s..however everyone is comparing the azenis and the s03s in dry traction...

The aziens will work in the rain, you just need to take a little more care and caution.

are you sure it's the tires? could it be that the 17" monsoons were way heavy?

congrats on your improvement! Im curios as to what u think of the Dc header? I have a 99 Ex coupe with AEM CAI and Dc catback, so pretty much the same setup as u. Can u give me all your impressions of the header? Good mod or not? Was their a noticeable difference?

It probably had more to do with the wheels than the tires. There is big difference between 17" heavy moonsoons to the 15" slipstreams. It is always nice to go faster so stick with the lighter wheel.

The DC 4-2-1 header is a very good mod for the SOHC VTEC....u notice a little more power from the midrange and top end compared to stock...i can honestly tell you that you will notice more from your header than from what you noticed on ur AEM and DC exhaust......its not going to push you in the back of the seat or anything..but the header is the most noticealble out of the simple NA boltons....good mod...won't dig a deep hole in your pocket...and will make you very satisfied....

That's what I was thinking too. I would be willing to bet it had a lot to do with having lighter weight wheels. I have 16" ADR rims on my car for everyday. One of my good friends lets me borrow his 15" Slips with Potenza S03s every weekend and it makes a HUGE difference.

I will echo others' sayings that it's probably the wheels, not the tires.

If your 60 footers were better then it *could* be the tires and/or the wheels, but since the 60 footers were the same how could it be the tires that attributed to your better times?

so any tips on how i can improve my 60'? I am launching my car at 5,000-5500...and that was when i ran my 16.4...if i launched at 3-4..my car ran consistent 16.8-16.9the only time that my car was able to pull the 16.4 and the consistent 16.5s and 16.6s was when i launched my car at 5000-5500..so what do you guyz think? please help me on lowering my 60'. I am running a d16y8 with i/h/e, Groundcontrol/Koni...any ideas?

Well of course your times are going to drop. You were trying to run on 17s. Hello?! Anyone's times are going to drop when going to 15s from 17s.
