My first post, need some help
Hello Honda-tech members.
I jus joined a few moments ago and I'm pretty excited.
I live in Orland Park, IL south of Chicago.
I kno a few members here already, personally.
I have a question for you all.
Im at the moment deciding on two cars:
2001 Civic EX 35k miles
1999 Civic Si 50k miles
I work at a Mitsubishi in Orland Park a dood came in not too long ago traded a lightly modded Si for an Evo8. Im gettin pretty sick of my 7th gen so I'm considering.
Any opinions on what you would do?
Thanks.

Well first of all, you can't load images off your hard-drive, you have to use imagastation or we-todd-racing or something else.
And, well be able to help a bit more!!!
And Welcome,
Jonathan

The biggest differences are the engines.
I don't know if you know.. but the Si has a totally different engine than a single cam civic.
I'd go for the Si without a doubt. That mileage bump doesn't even matter.. Honda's are extremely reliable so...

Buy an Eg hatch
Drop a GSR in
Buy plenty of with the left over $$
Serious note Owned a 98 coupe, 98 sedan, and now a 93 hatch (All Civics)
the hatch and the GSR swap is not even complete yet

Buy the Si, mod for mod it's B16A will be faster. (This coming from a D series SOHC owner, so please don't take this as a flame on D series ya'll ).
You might want to edit out where you work & stuff, too many thieves, etc......
Welcome to h-t, and good luck with whichever one you decide on

Re: My first post, need some help (UncivilCivic)
I'd drive both and decide what you want out of the car before making the purchase. If you're wanting to go fast, the Si would have the advantage. If you're looking for a daily driver that has cheap parts and good gas milage, go with the EX.
But if it were me and I were buying for my own motives, I'd go with the Si of course.

Why not an Evo8? You were there right? Do you get a discount? How much are they? Forget either cars, their slow compared to the Evo8.

thats true, but going sohc turbo would be something different than what everybody else is doing. Of coarse if i was in that position i would probably end up getting the si anyways .
