my engine's making strange noises, please HELP!
My engine has started to make a strange sound. When in neutral, it doesn't make the sound.
The sound is somewhat of a loud clicking that starts at around 1000 rpms or higher.
The more i rev the engine, the faster the clicking is. And when I stop and let the car idle, it does not make the clicking sound.
The car is a 94 civic hatchback with a b16 engine drop.
I am planning on replacing the clutch, throw-out bearing and pressure plate here in the next few weeks. Do you think the clicking sound from the engine is the Throw out bearing???? or a pulley?
I have revv'ed the engine and tried to listen to where the sound was coming from, but I have no clue.
I need some help on this one please. could it be the timing belt?? car has 112k on it
Any help as to what this problem may be is much appreciated

Re: (thesilverfox)
when a motor runs out of out it will start to eat through its bearing material and make clicking noises, and die.
i dont know if his post was a joke but i found it amusing, sorry

We can't all just assume everyone knows everything about car maintenace, so it's a valid pt. But while you have the tranny out to put in the new stuff, grip out the motor quick too and examine what you can. Pull the oil pan and examine the oil sump for excess metal shavings - thrown bearings.
Good luck!

Re: (pgpunkguy)
found out what it was guy... it's my a/c belt. my compressor is only mounted to the engine with 2 bolts instead of 4.. therefore it's a little bit off and therefore the belt is squeaking hardcore. no big deal.. it's just SUPER annoying. and b/c i have an engine drop, we don't have the proper compressor in there, but we think it has a del sol bracket... so therefore, I'm in need of a del sol compressor. hmmmmmmmm.
