so...

i got a sohc ZC non-vtec

recently did a liquid change last week

replace oil filters

new battery

so heres thew problem:

i was driving my car yesterday, and it was running fine, drove it home and parked it and it was all good. even started it back up to go to the store about 2 hours later.

this is were the story sucks. i go out today [saturday] about 2 in the afternoon. and i turn on my engine, it runs fine. i drive about 30-40 ft and the engine dies on me, and i have to push it back to my drive way.

i have no clue whats wrong. and i idnd't run out of gas, i still have 1/2 tank.

after this happed i got out checked all the conections to be sure nothing came loose. everything apeared to be fine. i trid turning it on. it cranks but the engine won't start.

so if anyone can help me with my problem id be very grate full. its my only car and i start a new semester on monday.

Probably in the distributor. Are you getting spark? If not it may be a coil or ignition module. No real test for either component except to substitute a known good of either. I see this all of the time. As far as fuel, check to see if you can here your pump priming for half a second when the car turns on, if not suspect a pump or faulty main relay. Plugged fuel filter can cause this too. Another thing to do is pull the valve cover off and see if your t/belt is intact. Another way is to pull the oil cap off and see if the valve train is moving when ou crank the engine. (requires a helper)

i got a freind who has a sohc zc vtec so ill just use his to test out the first two.

will the fuel pump sound like its sucking or will there be a distinct humm or is it somthing that ill know it when i hear it?

You'll hear a faint buzz from under the rear seat for about half a second right when you first turn your key on to the RUN position..

so i checked everything, heard a small buzzz form the back, so i decided it was the fue filter changed it out. in the process i got gas in my eye, but luckily i was at pepboys and they had eye wash haha.

so then i was like yes it should work. turned dind't start, i was ocnfused, then i realized my pump wasn't working now hahah!!

so i think imma have to replace the pump DX you know how much thatll cost me?
