my engine revs high and bog badly, and suggestions?!!!
hey everyone, i have a 96 ek coupe with a full b16a2 swap. its got 93k on it, when i was driving home i was at a stop light and the car began to rev high, then the car would bog majorly and i was barely able to make it home. i also have a check engine light on for an idle air control vavle(IACV). any suggestions?? this has happened once before but the car ran fine again. please help me haha

UGh i had that same problem too. i just fixed it though. here's what to check/do: This is one of my post from another forum. its not in there but i got the IACV CEL also.
First check for leaks around the FITV/IACV then proceed to read.
Everything was kinda alright for a while until i just recently(about a month ago) started to get roaming idle. the car ran alright but kinda boggy all over but it was still drivable until the roaming idle started to **** me off. so then i did my research and found out about the IACV. So i Cleaned it...it did nothing. So then i opted that it was broken and needed a new one. $40 bucks later(craigslist part) it still didn't fix my idle problems. So to rule out the fact of both of the IACV's i had being shot i did some more research and found out(of course after i bought the other IACV) about the idle control screw inside the FITV. Fixed that because it was all the way loose. and while i was in the middle of doing all this i replaced any hose clamp that was the shitty OEM ones because i had a slight Coolant leak in about 4 different places.
Long Story Short Clean the IACV. If that doesn't work check your FITV Idle Screw. If that is loose and unable to tighten(aka Broke) you need a new FITV. If its loose tighten it and that should fix your problem.

It's a Idle Valve like the IACV. It's mounted under your Throttle Body by 3 Bolts. This is what it looks like:
There's a Plate on the left side of it held on by 2 screws. Take that off and you'll see this.
Then just take a Flat Head and Twist the White Plastic Part clockwise(Tight) until its snug(dont over do it). If you can't tighten it and the spring is busted you need a new FITV. Try and find one used bc they are about $300-$350 from Honda/Acura

That in the picture is the FITV not the IACV. I don't think the A2's had a FITV. You probably either need to clean your IACV or its shot.
Yeah if you don't have a FITV and you've cleaned your IACV already its most likely shot.
