I recently bought a Hondata ECU chip and installed it on my Honda Civic 2000. The car has a Roots supercharger w/ a cooling system. I haven't taken it to the dyno in a week, and I have been thinking it was the problem. But I took it to the track and my engine detonated. I have no idea why this happened. Any suggestions?

**note** it has been detonated before, but that was becuase I never replaced the O2 sensor.

how high rpms didyou take it to?

o2 has nothing to do with detonating. What type of gas are you using, whats your compression, how much are you boosting? More then likely your running the wrong plugs and bad gas if your detonating all the time.

im not too familiar with super chargers but was it tuned at all? or did you just put on and go too the track...cause that mightve been the issue...

it blew at about 5000 rpm

I do not use any performance gasoline, I use regular unleaded fuel.

i guess I better go to a different shop then, becuase the mechanic "said" it was the O2 sensor.

If your engine was high compression I'm assuming, and you used regular, that caused your detonation. High compression engines require premium.

you shouldnt be racing a supercharged car if you dont understand the basic workings of an engine...
