My electrical system is all screwed up... Please help me out.
I drive a 92 Honda Civic DX (Sedan) MT
I was installing some reverse indiglo gauges I got off of Ebay the other day and I think I really screwed up my car. I started off by taking off the black cover above the steering wheel that went over the gauge cluster. Everything was fine until I popped the clock out. I re-connected it and it didn't work. I never unplugged my battery because I was in a huge hurry and it's probably why my stuff isn't working now. So, I took out the clock and the hazard switch and unscrewed the screw behind it. I got the cover off and unscrewed the four screws holding the cluster in place. Once I got the cluster out I unplugged the three plugs going into it and sat it in my lap. I got the new gauges on with no problem whatsoever but then I decided to try to fix the clock because I didn't want to be without one. I kept trying different things but then I finally decided to just slice the wires because the plugs were giving me problems. I started to do that and a couple wires hit together and they sparked but they wouldn't do it again. Then I realized that the wires going to my front speakers were dead. My CD player was dead. My turn signals were dead. My speedometer, water temp., and fuel gauges were all dead too. Could someone please tell me how to fix this? Thanks a lot and I appreciate your help in advance. If I don't get it fixed I'll be taking it to a mechanic which I don't really want to pay for. Could it be blown fuses or something small like that?

First thing check the fuses, you prolly did blow a fuse... and check all your wires... I don't know why your clock wouldn't be working if the fuse is good unless you possibly either shorted out the clock or fried some wires... Also, if the clock still doesn't work find someone with a multimeter and make sure you have power running through to the clock's wiring... Other than that, good luck...

Check the back up fuse under the hood.
I touched some wires together doing my stereo and it blew that back up fuse. My clock stopped working to.
It s a 7.5 amp fuse

Where are the fuses for the speakers and stereo and gauges at? I can only find like taillights, headlights, and stuff like that underneath the steering wheel.

Re: (liljohnson)
do you have a helms manual? If not you should invest in one. Most likely a fuse. The helms would tell you which fuse goes to what. I don't remember off hand.

It's near the battery. There is a fuse box with a cover on it. Look at the cover and find the back up fuse (closest to the battery). Take off the cover. Pull the fuse to see if its blown.
I'll try to find a pic.
Correction its next to the battery and the fuse is closest to the firewall
its got red writing on it

Alright I checked all the fuses and only one was blown. It was the 7.5 amp back up one found under the hood. I replaced it and nothing works still... Any more suggestions?

Check ALL fuses under your hood. Check ALL fuses under your dash. Find the one that's blown, replace it. Next time, unplug your battery.

Always disconnect the battery.....
Check your 80A fuse under the hood too. Its right in front where the power comes in at. Could of sent a surge through it.
